Every evening my baby cries for ages and nothing I try seems to help. Am I missing something?
Probably not. A lot of babies have a fussy stretch in the late afternoon or evening during the first months. They're tired and easily flooded, and so are you. It often eases around three months.
Try this tonight
Lower the lights, fewer faces, a walk in the carrier or a feed in a quiet room. If you can, pass the baby over for ten minutes and step outside. Crying somewhere safe while you catch your breath still counts as care.
When to check in
Contact your midwife, health visitor or GP if the cry is sudden and different, your baby seems unwell, isn't feeding, or you're worried. If you feel at the end of your rope, put the baby down safely and call someone today.
