A no-judgement community for the toddler years

You're not the only one.

The tantrum in the supermarket. The bedtime that took two hours. The 3am "am I getting this wrong?". Here, mums and dads of 1 to 5 year olds share the real stuff, and find out they're in good company.

Today's "Is this normal?" moment

A little girl hugging her mum on the grass
20 October 2026Working parents

My child cries and clings every single morning at drop-off. Am I doing the wrong thing?

No. Separation anxiety is a sign of a strong bond, and it's common up to about age 3, often returning after holidays or illness. Most children settle within minutes of the parent leaving.

Try this tonight

Keep goodbyes short and the same every day: one hug, one phrase ("I always come back after snack time"), then leave. Don't sneak out. Ask staff how long it lasted after you'd gone.

When to check in

Talk to the nursery and your GP if distress lasts all day, for weeks, or comes with changes in sleep or eating.

Official guidance: NHS: Separation anxiety

You're not alone.
